Since 1983, Make-A-Wish San Diego has been granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses in San Diego and Imperial Counties—thanks to the incredible generosity of local volunteers, donors, and supporters. We believe every wish has the power to be a game-changer, bringing hope, strength, and joy to kids and families when it’s needed most.
Each year, the Kaiser Permanente Thrive Half Marathon and 5K proudly supports Make-A-Wish San Diego by donating a portion of race proceeds to help grant wishes right here in our community. In 2025, this event raised over $21,000 for local wish kids!

Be a Star Make-A-Wish Donation ($100)
$100 represents 1% of granting a child’s wish. For every $100 in donations, receive a special star charm to add to your finisher medal to represent 1% of a wish. Also includes access to the charity post-race breakfast* and special Make-A-Wish bib that shows your support.
Make-A-Wish San Diego Fundraiser
Use your run to raise funds for Make-A-Wish® San Diego! We will set up your own private fundraising page where you can invite friends and family to support the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Fundraising Benefits Include:
$100: Receive a special star charm to add to your finisher medal to represent 1% of a wish. Also includes access to the charity post-race breakfast* and special Make-A-Wish bib that shows your support.
$1,000: Receive a special Make-A-Wish jacket, along with a star charm for each $100 raised. Also includes access to the charity post-race breakfast* and Make-A-Wish race bib.
$2,500: In addition to the Make-A-Wish jacket, star charm, breakfast, and race bib, receive complimentary two-night lodging accommodations near Mission Bay over race weekend, plus a complimentary race entry to share with a friend!
